Obituary of Donald Sappington

Donald Ray Sappington, 67, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at his home. Visitation will be 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home with Bro. Tim McCarter officiating. Interment will be in North Cleveland Cemetery.

Mr. Sappington was born in Gunnison, MS on January 20, 1948, to Adrian “Cotton” Sappington and Opal Josephine Thompson Sappington. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. On October 20, 1975, he married Charlotte Marie Davis in Cleveland, MS. He worked at Baxter Laboratory for 43 years, and he was a member of Cleveland Church of Christ. He enjoyed watching TV, Nascar, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Adrian “Cotton” Sappington.

Mr. Sappington is survived by his mother, Opal Josephine Sappington; wife, Charlotte Marie Sappington; sons, Jason Sappington (Dusty) of Terry and Benny Williams of Cleveland; daughters, Mindy Sappington (Frank) of Cleveland and Cherrie Pollan (Eric) of Cleveland; seven grandchildren; brother, Larry Sappington (Marjorie) of Cleveland; aunt-who was like a sister, Betty Larner (Bill) of Titusville, FL; special friend of the family, Bonnie Willett.

Pallbearers will be Jason Sappington, Frank Michael, Benny Williams, Eric Pollan, Harvey Dreher, Rob Bonney. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Brock, Pat Brewer, and all his nephews.

In memory of Mr. Sappington, donations may be made to Cleveland Church of Christ on Ronaldman Road.
